Types of Jewellery (Ladies)

When designing a piece of jewellery for an individual two things should be kept in mind: particular shapes, styles, and colours for that particular type of beauty,’ requirements and limitations necessary to make the piece comfortable and functional. If these two aspects are kept in mind, your client will have a piece of jewellery that will fit her individual personality, way of life, and be most becoming to her appearance. In this way she will acquire jewellery that can become an integral part of her wardrobe and remain a cherished possession for many years and perhaps many generations.

EARRINGS:
Earrings are an essential element of every jewellery wardrobe. They are noticed for their own beauty and help to shape the contour of the face and to bring out a radiant glow. Because they can do so much to enhance a woman’s appearance. They should be specifically designed for the individual face, or if choosing from a selection already available, they should be considered in terms of the facial structure and colour. Not only are two faces alike, but no two ears are alike. For this reason both earrings should be tried on, rather than just one. They should be worn for a short period to see if one or both are either too tight or too loose. If a pierced earring is very heavy it will be both uncomfortable and the bottom of the ear will appear elongated with the strain. By piercing and using some hollow shapes, a large earring can be designed that is still light in weight.

NECKLACE:
Necklace is a versatile type of adornment, and can be made of a great number of materials. Earlier they were made of many types of gems. These beads are strung together in combination of colours, or combined with gold. There is also an endless variety of styles of gold beads, plain or textured, gold twisted or in the form of chain, these may be narrow or wide, set with stones or plain, simple or elaborate, classical antique or modern. A woman with a long, thin neck will find that the choker-length necklace is most becoming to her appearance. This length tends to broaden the face and add fullness to the neck, even more so when large beads are used. If she enjoyed a longer necklace, she can knot a long strand of beads to give a bulk to the neck and minimize the length of the face.

BRACELETS:
They are a purely decorative item, drawling attention to the hand and arm. There are two types of bracelets- the stiff bangle, either oval or round, which can be made with or without a clasp, and a flexible bracelet, made of linked chain or a series of motifs fastened together. Bracelets may be designed so that they are of the same width all the way round or may consist of as simple band, crowned with a major motif centered on the upper side of the wrist. Bracelets made of linked chain are often used to suspend charms.

RINGS:
The ring is one of the most interesting areas of jewellery design. Rings are most flexible and frequently worn of all jewellery pieces and therefore deserve a very extensive study. Rings ranges from simple ornamentation to a specific symbolism, as well as combination of both. For example, a diamond or a cocktail ring is used primarily for ornamentation. The purpose of a plain wedding band is symbolic. A stone set wedding band is used for both purposes. As with any well designed piece of jewellery, rings should fulfill a specific need and need should be clarified in terms of symbolism and ornamentation before undertaking the project.
